Embark Studios has released Patch 1.23.0 for ARC Raiders, and it is the kind of update that spends most of its time fixing problems instead of making a grand entrance. That said, players do get one fresh cosmetic reward for the trouble: the Vanguard Set is now available in the store.

This patch arrives after the larger Flashpoint update, which added new content including a new Major Map Condition and a new ARC threat, the Vaporizer. Compared with that drop, 1.23.0 is much more modest, but it does address a useful pile of bugs across several parts of the game.

What changed in Patch 1.23.0

ARC

  • Fixed an issue that caused Rocketeers to use the wrong combat alert sound.

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue where two Trigger ’Nades could sometimes deal three times the intended damage when detonated next to each other.
  • Fixed an issue that could delay item use when holding fire and swapping to items.
  • Fixed an issue where weapons and items could fire automatically.
  • Fixed a shoulder-swap bug where the camera would stay locked on one side.
  • Fixed an exploit that let an anvil splitter be used without the usual dispersion penalty.
  • Barricades can no longer be placed on Ziplines.

Maps

  • Fixed an issue where players could catch fire outside the locked room in Medical Research on Stella Montis.
  • Fixed a spot on Stella Montis where players could be shot through the floor.
  • Fixed an issue where some staircases were missing in Buried City.
  • Fixed certain cases where the code printer could not be interacted with during Locked Gate.

Close Scrutiny

  • Adjusted the movement speed for Rocketeers and Vaporizers so they do not behave oddly while idle.
  • Fixed an issue where reconnected players would not see Assessor platforms correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where Vaporizers could get stuck near an Assessor.
  • Fixed an issue that could stop an Assessor from flying back into orbit.
  • Fixed a bug where breach platforms could break on an Assessor when players spammed Breach & Search prompts, which could prevent it from returning to orbit.
  • ARC summoned by the Assessor will now leave the area and despawn properly if they stay idle for too long.
  • Pinging an Assessor on the map screen now shows its actual location correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where players could get stuck when jumping between platforms on an Assessor.
  • Fixed a spot in Buried City where an Assessor and a Probe could land in the same place.

Other

  • Fixed an issue where the weapon upgrade UI could show the wrong upgrade tiers.
  • Fixed an issue that caused fully transparent helmet visors.
  • Fixed some visual effect cases that could cause crashes. The team says it is still investigating all crash causes.

In other words, this is a cleanup patch, but a fairly broad one. It touches combat, movement, map geometry, event behavior, UI, and crashes, which is a polite way of saying the game had a decent list of things to stop doing.

The bottom line

Patch 1.23.0 does not add a big system or a headline-grabbing new mode. Instead, it trims back a number of bugs that could affect matches, events, and general stability, while giving store visitors the Vanguard Set as a fresh cosmetic option.
