Episode 7 of Paradise Season 2, "The Final Countdown," shifts between a six-year-old bunker tour and a present-day breakdown. The show balances reunion scenes, a ticking siege, and an unsettling meeting that changes Redmond’s course.
Flashbacks: Cal’s bunker tour
The episode opens six years earlier with Cal getting his first guided tour of the bunker. He asks detailed questions about air, fire, and how the place would survive a siege. For reasons the show very much intends, the tour is underscored by the 1980s song that gives the episode its name.
Those early scenes are intercut with present-day events so you can watch the things Cal worries about actually happen. Jeremy, Cal’s son, is shown trying to shut off the air to open the bunker doors, which ties the old questions directly to new problems.
Xavier, Teri, and the Gary problem
Xavier and Teri finally find each other again. The reunion is sweet until the Gary issue reappears. Gary shows up desperate, telling Teri, "I have Bean. Please come home." Xavier, who has been pushed to the edge, is ready to kill him, but Teri chooses a different route.
Instead of bloodshed, Teri meets Gary and tries to reason with him. She makes a clear choice: she is leaving with Bean and Gary needs to restart his life somewhere else. Gary backs down. The scene ends with Teri, Xavier, and Bean boarding a train bound for Colorado.
Redmond meets Link
Redmond starts this episode emotionally raw, still grieving for her son Dylan. She steadies herself and flies out to meet Link on Air Force One. Over apple pie, Link drops several heavy details.
- He claims to have about 10,000 people with him.
- He says they want a nuclear reactor to help restart civilization.
- When Redmond asks what he really wants, he answers, "I’m here for Alex."
Link then reveals his true name is Dylan and that he was born on May 16. That disclosure triggers nosebleeds for Redmond and visibly affects her. She returns home shaken and later shares an intimate moment with her husband, which feels like an effort to hold on to something normal.
Siege, Jane, and Gaby
Back in the bunker siege, systems begin to fail. Jane tries to kill Gaby, but Gaby fights back and stabs Jane in the back. As the bunker’s systems degrade and chaos spreads, Cal’s earlier questions about vulnerabilities play out in real time.
Closing moments and a new mystery
The episode ends with Redmond entering a restricted area of the facility. She puts on a coat, smiles, and speaks to someone off-screen, saying, "Hi Alex." The scene is quiet but loaded, signaling that the Alex mystery will be central going forward.
