What happened in Episode 6?

Episode 6, titled "Jane," focuses on Jane Driscoll’s origin story. The episode frequently raises the nature versus nurture question as it moves between time periods.

The story begins with a prophecy set in 1997. A man is told that a killer will be born on June 6 at 12:01am and that the child can be stopped if a message is delivered. That same man identifies a child who fits the description and tells her mother. Jane grows up troubled. She hears voices that push her toward violent acts, including locking her mother in a sauna.

Flash forward to a training facility called The Farm about ten years before the present. Jane’s supervisor shows her methods to quiet the voices. Jane uses those techniques for harm, at one point apparently cutting off a rival’s penis and sending that rival to the hospital.

In the present timeline, Robinson is arrested for the President’s murder and taken to an underground prison. There she becomes involved in Jeremy Bradford’s plan to cut the bunker’s oxygen supply, which would automatically open the bunker doors to the outside world.

Outside the bunker, Link and his group gather. Redmond moves to consolidate power and proposes a plan that sends Jane out to arrange a meeting. When Jane returns, Gabby confronts her about recent actions. Jane replies that anyone wanting to remove Redmond will have to go through her first.

Xavier spends much of the episode assembling a bomb to distract guards and rescue Teri. He realizes late that Gary intends to use the device against him, and narrowly avoids the blast. As armed men close in on Xavier, Teri appears from the crowd and the episode ends just before they reunite.

The first six episodes of Season 2 are currently streaming on Hulu and Disney Plus. New episodes arrive weekly.

Looking ahead

Episode 7 is expected to deal with immediate fallout from Jane’s revelations and the events that left several characters in dangerous positions. For viewers keeping score, the title again is "The Final Countdown."
