Montreal show canceled after Gaga gets sick
Lady Gaga had to pull the plug on her Montreal concert just hours before she was due on stage, saying a respiratory infection had made it impossible to perform.
In an April 6 statement posted to her Instagram Story, the “Abracadabra” singer said, “I’m so sorry to share that I’m unable to perform tonight and have to cancel the show.” She added that she had been “fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days and doing everything I can to rest and recover, but it’s gotten worse.”
Gaga, 40, had hoped to push through the third of her Montreal shows as part of her Mayhem Ball Tour. Instead, she said her doctor strongly advised her not to go on.
“My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today,” she wrote, “and to be honest, I don’t think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve.”
She also acknowledged the inconvenience to fans who had already made plans.
“I know how deeply disappointing this is,” Gaga said. “And I truly could not feel worse about letting you down. I’m so sorry to everyone who made plans to be there and support me.”
She ended her message by thanking the audience that saw her April 2 and 3 shows in Montreal, calling the experience “magical and deeply meaningful.” To the fans who were expecting her that night, she added, “I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.”
At the moment, there is no word on whether the canceled date will be rescheduled. Because when a doctor says no, the concert calendar usually does not get much of a vote.
The tour goes on
Gaga has been on the road since July 2025 and is scheduled to return to the stage April 9 and 10 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. After that, she is set to head to New York City for the final stretch of her 86-show tour.
The setback comes during an especially busy stretch for the pop star. In February, she attended the 2026 Grammys and won Best Pop Vocal Album for Mayhem.
Wedding plans stay mostly private
She has also been busy planning her wedding to fiancé Michael Polansky.
Gaga has not shared much about the ceremony, and she has clearly decided that some details are not for public consumption. In March 2025, she told E! News that she was “desperately trying to keep that so private,” though she did promise one thing: “it will be the best day of my life.”
So, between touring, awards season, and wedding planning, Gaga has been juggling a fairly full calendar. The respiratory infection just added another item, which is not exactly the kind of surprise anyone wants before a show in Montreal.
