A Tokyo cameo, with a side of speculation

Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton may have just given their relationship rumors a little more fuel than anyone asked for. After months of dating buzz, the Kardashians star and the seven-time Formula 1 champion appeared to go Instagram official in a clipped, very glamorous sort of way.

In an Instagram video Lewis shared on April 6, he was seen driving a red Ferrari through the streets of Tokyo. As he drifted the car around, Kim was revealed to be sitting in the front passenger seat, looking every bit like she had absolutely no reason to be alarmed by the situation.

When Kim, 45, was asked what she thought of the ride, she smiled and said, “That’s insane.”

A Japan trip that was already doing a lot

Kim had joined Lewis in Japan last month while he prepared for the Japanese Grand Prix. She was also spotted shopping in Tokyo with her sister Khloé Kardashian, and the trip included Kim’s children North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6, whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West.

Kim had already posted about the family trip on Instagram at the time, because apparently one location is never enough when you are Kim Kardashian.

How the rumors started

The dating speculation began in January, when Kim and Lewis were seen at the same New Year’s Eve party in Aspen, Colorado. The rumor mill picked up speed the next month, after they were photographed boarding a private flight from the U.K. to Paris together.

Lewis also kept the chatter going on social media. On March 16, while he was in Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix, he left a heart-eye emoji on a Vanity Fair post showing Kim’s Oscars after-party look. Subtlety, naturally, was not part of the exercise.

Fans thought they had spotted him earlier

Lewis’s April 6 post is the first time Kim has appeared on his social media accounts, but some fans think he may have already made a quiet appearance on hers.

In a February video Kim posted, she and her sisters tried to recreate a TikTok trick. Several voices could be heard laughing and commenting in the background, which sent fans into detective mode.

One viewer summed up the theory this way: “Am I the only one who can hear Lewis’s laugh?”

No official comment, but Kim has been clear about wanting love

Neither Kim nor Lewis has publicly confirmed their relationship status. Still, Kim has spoken before about being open to finding someone new.

“I’m the biggest hopeless romantic,” she said on a November episode of The Kardashians. “When the right person comes along, I’ll be so ready and everything will be fine.”

For now, the pair are not saying much. Their Instagram activity, however, is doing the talking.
