Fans are counting the receipts
While the rest of the GTA 6 audience waits for the game’s November 2026 release window, a more determined group has been busy doing something far less glamorous: digging through Rockstar Games’ financial records.
The question driving the speculation is simple enough, if not especially cheap. How much has the long-awaited open-world sequel actually cost to make? After all, Rockstar has taken a very long time to deliver a follow-up to its biggest cash machine, and the trailers have already looked expensive enough to have their own accounting departments.
That combination of long development time and lavish-looking footage has fueled plenty of budget chatter. Now, after examining the company’s official documents, some fans believe the answer may be eye-watering, with the total likely topping $2 billion.
At this point, the game’s mystique is doing double duty. It is still one of the most anticipated releases in years, and apparently, also a reason for people to read corporate filings for fun. Everyone has hobbies.
