Trailer drop and the obvious teases
Marvel released the first footage of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on March 18. Tom Holland unveiled the trailer from the Empire State Building at sunrise to underline the whole brand new day idea. The clip teases Peter Parker developing organic webbing and hints that Spider powers are taking center stage.
The preview is packed with familiar faces and threats, including:
- Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo
- The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal
- Scorpion, played by Michael Mando
- The Hand, a group of red-clad ninjas
Where fans think Daredevil went missing
One scene in particular has people pausing and replaying: a slow-motion rooftop jump where Spider-Man dives toward a cluster of red ninjas. Some viewers say there is a noticeable empty space under Spider-Man where another fighter should be, and they think that absent figure is Daredevil.
Fans point out that the editing and staging of the sequence resemble team-up moments from previous Spider-Man movies, and that has only added fuel to the speculation.
Charlie Cox says he is not in the film
While promoting the upcoming season of Daredevil, Charlie Cox was asked directly about the movie and told Jimmy Kimmel: "If I was in the movie I would also say no to be clear, but I’m not in the movie. I could be lying, but I’m not." His reply did not convince everyone. Many viewers remain skeptical.
Why fans expect Daredevil to show up
The Hand are a core part of Daredevil lore and featured heavily in the previous series, so their presence in New York naturally invites comparison. Matt Murdock also made a brief appearance in 2021's No Way Home to help Peter with legal issues, though he did not put on the suit. For many fans, Brand New Day looks like a chance to give that team-up a proper moment.
What comes next
Daredevil is returning to screens soon with Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which may keep fan attention busy. In the meantime, expect a steady stream of trailer breakdowns and hopeful theories every time a new clip appears.
Short verdict: The trailer gives plenty to chew on, and whether Marvel quietly edited out a cameo or saved the reveal for later, fans are not ready to let the question go.
