Defense Minister Guido Crosetto is ready to report to the Chamber of Deputies on the use of military bases in Italy by the U.S. armed forces, according to a statement from minister for parliamentary relations Luca Ciriani.
Ciriani said he had informed Chamber Speaker Lorenzo Fontana of Crosetto’s availability to give the briefing in the chamber, as requested by several parliamentary groups from both the majority and the opposition. The session, if confirmed, could take place on Tuesday, April 7.
“The minister Ciriani informed Speaker Lorenzo Fontana of Defense Minister Guido Crosetto’s willingness to report in the chamber, as requested by several parliamentary groups from both majority and opposition. The briefing on the use of military bases on Italian territory by the U.S. armed forces could take place on Tuesday, April 7,” Ciriani said.
The announcement comes after lawmakers pressed for an update on a subject that, as usual, refuses to stay quietly in the background.
