The Il Toro gets put in its place

If you have ever run the tight corridors of Stella Montis in Arc Raiders, you know the Il Toro was that noisy neighbor who refused to lower the volume. The green shotgun was terrifying up close, especially in PvP where it could reliably one-shot opponents on a good charge. Players asked for a nerf, and update 1.20.0 answers that call.

What changed

Embark says the goal was to make the Il Toro behave more like a green-rarity weapon: less of a do-it-all tool and more dependent on attachments. Here are the numbers the devs adjusted:

  • Pellet damage reduced from 7.5 to 7
  • Base fire rate reduced from 43 to 38
  • Base dispersion increased from 4.5 to 6
  • Total reload time increased from 4.3s to 5.7s
    • Looping reload entry increased from 0.8s to 1s
    • Looping reload time increased from 0.5s to 0.7s
  • Damage loss from fall-off increased from 40% to 50%

Those changes add up. Reduced pellet damage, wider dispersion, and harsher fall-off mean the Il Toro is much worse at range. You now need to be closer to get the same punch. The slower fire rate makes landing a follow-up blast less reliable. And the reload is noticeably slower: reloading from empty now takes about 1.4 seconds longer, which is meaningful in frantic fights around Stella Montis.

How the community and devs reacted

Embark framed the change as "an adjustment many of you requested." That is fair. The patch is stricter than some players expected, but the devs say they will watch the weapon and tweak it further if needed. Expect its place in the meta to shift, probably toward close-range niche use rather than a dominant all-around pick.

Other notable fix: Energy Clips price cut

The update also slashed the sell price of Energy Clips from 1,000 coins to 200 coins. That is not random. Players could craft Energy Clips from one Advanced Arc Powercell and two Batteries, then sell them for a large profit. The new price brings Energy Clips more in line with other craftable items and closes that easy money loop. If you relied on that trick for quick cash, you will need to find other sources, such as looting higher-value items instead.

Overall, the patch tries to make Arc Raiders feel fairer without breaking weapon variety. Nerfs like this can sting at first, but the devs say they will monitor the game and adjust if the balance tilts too far the other way.
