Judge Pushes Treasury to Let Venezuela Pay for Maduro and Flores’ Legal Defense
In a federal hearing, Judge Hellerstein questioned the Treasury Department’s refusal to license Venezuelan funds for the legal defense of Nicolás Maduro and his aide. He warned that blocking the money could be incompatible with the right to a defense and said dismissing the case was not his plan.
