Bahamas Sharks Test Positive for Caffeine, Painkillers and Cocaine
A 2026 study found traces of human drugs in sharks around Eleuthera Island. Researchers detected caffeine, painkillers and at least one case of cocaine in samples from 85 sharks, suggesting wastewater and other human activities are reaching apex predators.
