Good news for people who enjoy building crime-fighting outfits out of small plastic bricks: LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will arrive a week earlier than planned. The full game now launches on May 22, 2026.

New release schedule and early access

The game was originally set to release on May 29, 2026. That date has been moved up to May 22. If you bought the Deluxe edition, you get to jump in even sooner, with early access starting on May 19.

Which edition should you buy

There are two main versions of the game:

  • Standard edition: Includes the base game only.
  • Deluxe edition: Adds a pile of extra content, early access, and a few bundles you will actually want.

Pre-ordering gives you the Dark Knight Returns Batsuit as a bonus.

What the Deluxe edition includes

  • Legacy Collection: Comes with the Arkham Trilogy Pack, the Batman Beyond Pack, and the Party Music Pack.
  • Sinister pack: Included with Deluxe purchase.
  • Three days of early access: Play from May 19 if you own Deluxe.

Planned post-launch DLC

There is a separate post-launch drop called the Mayhem Collection, currently planned for September 2026. It will add new playable characters including Joker and Harley Quinn, a new story mission, and a Mayhem mode.

Quick look at the game itself

From what has been revealed so far, the game features over 100 iconic Batsuits and an open world that is larger than the one in Batman: Arkham Knight. That sounds like a lot of costume changes and running around in very small bricks.
