You can grab a Gold Bar very early in Crimson Desert, and later on you can learn an alchemy recipe to turn basic materials into more bars. It is one of the fastest ways to stack currency. If you want to make your money work for you, you can also invest bars at the bank and watch the balance climb while you do other things.

Crimson Desert Gold Bar Location

The first Gold Bar is tucked inside Lioncrest Manor, northwest of the starting town of Hernand. The manor is guarded, so the front door is not a friendly option. You need to climb the outer walls and enter through an upstairs window to get inside.

Bring a Mask before attempting this. Masks can be bought from black market traders, looted from bandits, or earned as a reward for finishing the Jeffrey bounty in the Hernand Barracks. It also helps to complete Bruna's Request first to clear out some NPCs in the manor.

Once inside, head to the first floor and find the fireplace opposite the main entrance. Extinguish the fire, then hold your Aim button until the Steal prompt appears. If you are wearing a Mask, you can reach into the fireplace and take the Gold Bar. Be mindful of guards roaming the manor. Wait for the guard on the first floor to walk into the hallway next to the fireplace, then steal the bar. That timing usually gives you enough time to get out without being caught.

Gold Bar Crafting Recipe Location

The recipe to craft Gold Bars is located in the Spire of Insight. That spire sits to the southeast of Hernand near the Steel Mountains. You can ride there on your horse or use the skybridges and skydive nearby. Go up to the third floor of the Spire of Insight and look for an alchemical formula pinned to a shelf. A similar formula can also be found in a Witch's hideout in the Silver Wolf Mountains.

Crafting Gold Bars

To make Gold Bars yourself, find a Witch's hideout and locate a Cauldron. A convenient example is the Cauldron in Shadow's Whisper Cave north of Hernand. Light the Cauldron, interact with it, and check the alchemy menu for the Gold Bar recipe.

If the recipe is not listed, use the Improvise option and put the following materials into the Cauldron:

  • 3 Brimstone
  • 3 Mercury
  • 10 Silver Ore

How to Invest Gold in Crimson Desert

After you have a Gold Bar, visit the Hernand Bank and speak with the banker. You can register a Strongbox in your name for a fee of 100 Silver. It is usually worth it because invested Gold Bars typically register a value of 500 Silver. Choose an investment strategy when you set up the Strongbox, deposit your Gold Bar, and let the investment grow while you play.

Between looting Lioncrest Manor, finding the Spire formula, and using a few cauldron runs, you can kickstart an early economy that pays off quickly. Invest smart and your in-game wallet will thank you.
