A cryptic leak points to July 2026

A new leak has apparently given Halo fans a first look at the possible early access and launch dates for Halo: Campaign Evolved, which is currently expected to arrive in July 2026. Because apparently game release calendars now require a calculator and a decoding session.

Earlier this week, reports suggested the game was "playable from start to finish" and would include a customized skin system. This latest leak, if it holds up, adds a timeline to the picture.

The post that started the speculation

Known Halo dataminer grunt.api posted a cryptic message on X that included two math equations:

  • "EA: (18 × 7 × (MMXX + VI) mod 31) + 1"
  • "OR: (8 × 7 × (MMXX + VI) mod 31) + 1"

Fans quickly assumed "EA" meant early access and "OR" meant official release. From there, the community did what it always does best: solve the puzzle before anyone involved had a chance to say whether the puzzle was real.

Some users in the replies claimed the equations point to Thursday, July 23 for early access and Tuesday, July 28 for the full release.

That said, this is still very much in rumor territory. The post is cryptic, the source is unofficial, and the math, while impressive in a deeply unnecessary way, is not the same thing as a confirmation.

Possible reveal timing

Grunt.api has built a reputation for accurate Halo leaks, which is why the post has drawn so much attention. If the dates are correct, fans may not have to wait long for an official announcement. The next likely window is the Xbox Game Showcase on June 7, where pre-orders could also go live.

For now, though, all anyone can do is wait for Halo Studios to say something on the record. A rare and old-fashioned habit, but still the standard.

More Halo drama in the background

Elsewhere in Halo news, the art director of Halo Infinite and a veteran developer on the franchise is accusing senior staff at Halo Studios of multiple unlawful acts.

So, yes, the Halo universe is having a busy week.
