Blizzard gives the fan event an official stamp
Players who have been around World of Warcraft for a while probably know the annual Running of the Trolls, a community-run charity event that celebrates Pride Month and raises money for The Trevor Project. In a mildly surprising but welcome move, Blizzard is officially bringing the 2026 edition into the game with patch 12.0.5.
The in-game version will be called the Darkspear Dash, and it is scheduled to run from June 27 through June 29.
What the event will look like
According to the current details, the event starts with a beach party at the Troll starting area on Echo Isles, then finishes with a pool party at the Silvermoon City fountain, where the parade comes to an end. Because no modern Blizzard event is complete without a little extra merchandising, datamining has also uncovered:
- a colorful event tabard
- a toy
- NPCs that can warp players to the parade’s starting point
More details are still to come
Official information is still expected closer to the release of 12.0.5, which is currently due sometime in spring. For now, the main takeaway is simple: a long-running community Pride event is effectively being folded into the game itself, which is about as close as corporate approval gets to a standing ovation.
