Season 2 Reloaded only just arrived, bringing Paradox Junction for Zombies and the new Black Ops Royale mode for Warzone. Still, players are already looking ahead. Based on the current Battle Pass timer, we can make a solid guess about when Season 3 drops.
When Season 3 starts
Release date: April 2 at 9am PT on all platforms. This is the expected launch window derived from the Battle Pass countdown that has been visible since Call of Duty added the system in Modern Warfare 2019. Expect official announcements closer to the date, but the timer gives a reliable estimate.
Season 2 has felt shorter than usual, mostly because a lot of its content arrived in the Reloaded update. Still, in a little over two weeks more content should arrive when Season 3 goes live.
What Treyarch has hinted about Zombies
Treyarch has said that future Zombies maps will release via Reloaded updates, and there are three Zombies maps remaining to be released. In a developer call they specifically noted that new Zombies maps coming across Seasons 3, 4, and 5 will include:
- new enemies
- new locations
- new Wonder Weapons
They also discussed Carry Forward for Zombies weapons, saying it will arrive in a different form. That suggests you may not be able to spawn into a match with certain legacy weapons, like the MP-40, in the same way players expect. Separately, Treyarch plans to bring back some fan-favorite legacy weapons in a unique way starting in Season 3.
Other expected additions
Along with Zombies updates, each season usually includes new weapons, scorestreaks, and multiplayer or Warzone maps. Those standard seasonal additions are likely to appear at launch or shortly after.
Quick timeline
- Marketing and teasers: likely starting around March 26.
- Season 3 launch: April 2 at 9am PT on all platforms.
Final notes
That covers what we know for now. Expect formal marketing and more concrete patch notes in the days before April 2. I will keep an eye out for official word and update when more details arrive.
